Abidii is an app and website for learning YorĂšbĂĄ. Abidii is responsible for your personal data (the "data controller"). For any privacy question, email us at support@abidii.app
Speaking exercises record your voice on your device so you can compare it with the example audio. The recording stays on your device and is deleted when you replace it or leave the exercise. We don't upload it.
When you trace a letter, your drawing is sent to our servers so we can check it. We keep the drawings and results, including any corrections you send, to improve letter recognition.
We use your data to:
We rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interests (such as security and improving Abidii), your consent where it's required (such as notifications), and our legal obligations. We don't sell your data or use it for targeted advertising.
In live games, the other players in your room see your username, avatar and scores. Leaderboards show your display name, avatar and points. Share images are made on your device and are only shared when you choose to share them. Your display name, avatar and points may also appear in screenshots and videos of the app that we use in app stores, on our website, in ads and on social media. We never show your email or other private details there. If you'd rather not appear, email us (see "Who we are") and we'll leave you out of future material.
The app uses analytics and crash-reporting services to understand how Abidii is used and to fix problems. Crash reports are set up not to include personal details such as your name or email. Our website always uses cookie-free analytics. It uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, only if you accept cookies in the banner; you can change your choice any time in "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
If you allow notifications, we store a notification token so we can send reminders and game invites. You can turn types of notifications off in the app, or turn them all off in your phone's settings.
We use service providers to run Abidii. By category, they are: hosting and databases, content delivery and storage, real-time multiplayer infrastructure, website hosting, analytics, crash reporting, push messaging, email delivery, sign-in (Google and Apple) and app store payments (Apple and Google). They only process data on our instructions. We may also share data when the law requires it.
We and our service providers may process data in different countries, including the United States. Where needed, these transfers are protected by safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
We keep your data while your account is active. When you ask to delete your account, it's deactivated straight away and deleted within 30 days. We may keep some records for longer where the law requires it (such as purchase records), and statistics that no longer identify you. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.
Families use Abidii together. Children should use Abidii with a parent or guardian, who creates and manages the account. We don't knowingly collect children's data without a parent or guardian being involved.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 or California law), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or limit some uses, and withdraw your consent. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, the UK ICO or your EU authority. To make a request, email us at support@abidii.app
We'll update this page when our practices change, and show the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
